The future of food has many faces. There is a movement towards pure, unprocessed food and a movement towards lab food: genetically manipulated or artificially produced. Fungi, bacteria or free range grubs can be food. No matter how it is produced, there is more attention for food than ever. Food is like fashion, with fast changing trends. Chefs are celebrities with their own road show. Food culture has a big economic impact. New professions emerge, like food photographer, food blogger and food stylist.
A food stylist inspired this collection. Her name is Janice Poon and she styled the dishes in the television series Hannibal. The designs reflect the opulence and excessive beauty of the film stills. To balance out the abundance, my designs were applied to athletic wear.
